Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Colaba-BKC-SEEPZ) Now Open: Here is What to Expect

Mumbai's first fully underground metro Line 3 is now operational, connecting Colaba to SEEPZ via BKC and the financial district.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has inaugurated the long-awaited Metro Line 3 — Mumbai's first underground metro. The line connects Colaba in South Mumbai to SEEPZ in the north via the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).

Line 3 at a glance:

Total length: 33.5 km
Stations: 27 underground stations
Key stops: Cuffe Parade, Churchgate, Hutatma Chowk, CST, CSMT, MCA, BKC, Vidyanagari, SEEPZ
Daily capacity: 17 lakh passengers at full capacity

Line 3 is particularly significant because it connects South Mumbai (commercial district), BKC (financial hub), and the eastern suburbs. For the first time, Mumbaikars can travel from Colaba to BKC in under 20 minutes — a journey that takes over 60 minutes by road during peak hours.

Ticketing: The line accepts standard MMRDA tokens, One Mumbai cards, and UPI-based QR codes.
